Reports state that the current deluge of rain is causing the water level of Ella’s Ravana Falls to rise quickly.
The authorities have therefore taken action to forbid tourists from swimming or even approaching the waterfall.
The Badulla District Disaster Management Unit made the decision after taking into account the persistently high rainfall that is battering the waterfall’s water catchment areas.
For the time being, the public is therefore urged by the disaster management authorities to avoid venturing as close to the waterfall as they can.
