Govt confident food inflation will decline further in 2024

According to Minister of Trade, Commerce, and Food Security Nalin Fernando, there will be a further decrease in food inflation in 2024.

Fernando stated that in order to determine the extent to which food costs may be managed for the upcoming year, he had requested information on food production.

The congressman said these things yesterday, November 9, at a press conference with the theme “Collective Path to a Stable Country” at the Presidential Media Centre.

Minister Nalin Fernando added in her remarks:

“Our government’s key goals are food safety and costs. To boost the economy and raise the necessary amount of taxes, we have taken a number of actions, such as raising the sugar tax from 25 cents to Rs. 50.
