President Ranil Wickremesinghe reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to upholding the standard of its health sector, saying that all necessary steps will be done to pinpoint the country’s shortcomings, vulnerabilities, and crises before taking action to progress the sector.
President Wickremesinghe said the government’s focus has been on establishing clear instructions for the acquisition of medications and setting up a distinct institution for the aforementioned purpose during his 2024 Budget speech in Parliament this morning, November 13.
In this regard, he stated, “We are taking this step after conducting a detailed study of the government’s medicines procurement process.”
