In the 2024 Budget Speech, President Ranil Wickremesinghe pointed out that Sri Lanka’s education system is currently antiquated and that a number of fundamental reforms are scheduled to be enacted.
As a result, the Cabinet modified the new national education policy framework that a group of 25 experts was tasked with creating.
The Higher National Council on Education, the National Higher Education Commission, and the National Skills Commission are among the important organisations that are planned to be established as a result of these reforms, according to President Wickremesinghe. He also stated that the Minister of Education will provide more information on this topic in Parliament during the next two weeks.
