Leading international firms have indicated their want to open factories in Sri Lanka and their intentions to do so have been communicated by South Korea.
During their recent visit to Sri Lanka, representatives from South Korea had a discussion about the issue with Ministry of Industries officials. Mrs. Thilaka Jayasundara, the ministry’s secretary, led the conversation.
According to the Department of Government Information (DGI), the South Korean delegation has also stated that it plans to build factories in Sri Lanka for at least 80 different industries, with a primary emphasis on the manufacture of electronic equipment and automotive replacement parts.
