When a British news agency reported that the BCCI had persuaded the ICC to permit the use of a previously used pitch for the India vs. New Zealand first semifinal of the ICC World Cup 2023 in Mumbai on November 15, a major dispute broke out.

According to The Daily Mail UK, the BCCI changed the pitch for their team’s semi-final without the ICC’s permission in order to give India an advantage.

The charge was refuted by the ICC Spokesperson in a statement, nevertheless.

“At the conclusion of an event this size, adjustments to the scheduled pitch rotations are not uncommon and have occurred on a few occasions previously. Together with our host, the venue curator recommended this modification, which was implemented. The ICC Spokesperson stated, “The ICC independent pitch consultant was informed of the change and has no reason to believe the pitch will not play well.”
