In order to accomplish the goals outlined in the Welfare Benefits Act, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has designated all District Secretaries as Additional Welfare Commissioners.
Under the authority granted to him as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilisation, and National Policies, the Head of State has appointed the appropriate individuals.
According to reports, all Divisional Secretaries have been appointed as Deputy Welfare Commissioners concurrently.
As of November 1, 2023, the appointments are in force.
These recently appointed Additional Welfare Commissioners and Deputy Welfare Commissioners will be assigned tasks by the Welfare Benefits Board, according to sources.
