President Ranil Wickremesinghe has given orders to hire 8,400 contract workers from local government organisations for permanent positions, according to State Minister of Mass Media Shantha Bandara.
During today’s parliamentary session, the State Minister made a comment in this regard, stating that the government has already made a decision on the topic even if it was not stated in the 2024 budget address.
He added, “Everything cannot be mentioned in the budget proposal,” in response to claims made by some that the 2024 Appropriations Bill omitted numerous relief measures.
