Over 3,000 bribery complaints received so far this year – CIABOC

Date:

Over 3,000 complaints concerning incidents of bribery have been reported as of November this year, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) said.

Accordingly, CIABOC reported that a total of 3,255 complaints have been received over allegations of bribery from 01 January 2023, until 21 November 2023.

It was further reported that a majority of the complaints received had been concerning the conduct of public servants, with nearly 100 complaints having been against police officers.

Meanwhile, the CIABOC also noted that they had received almost 50 complaints against school principals over allegations of bribery.

Thus, the CIABOC emphasised the need to immediately fill in the vacancies within the commission which would thereby enable them to continue with their investigations in a manner proportionate to the complaints received.
