The second meeting of the Islamic Unity Forum, comprising the leaders of Sri Lankan Muslim community organizations, was held last month at the Sri Lankan Islamic Center, Maligawatta. In the meeting, 26 representatives from 15 organizations including the Department of Muslim Religion and Culture Affairs, All Ceylon Jamiyatul Ulama, All Ceylon Sufi Spiritual Council, Khidmathul Ulama Welfare Association, All Ceylon Majalisul Ulama, Seredib United Organization, All Ceylon YMMA, Borella Ahadhiya, Colombo District Masjid Federation, Colombo Grand Mosque, MEEDS, Mishkath Research Institute, Sri Lanka Muslim Council, Salama, All Ceylon Union of Muslim League Youth front participated.
Started with the recitation of Al quran by Moulavi MSM Jifri (Ilmi), Vice President of Khidmathul Ulama Welfare Association, Ash. MS Abdul Mujeeb (Gaffoori) One of the founders of Islamic United Forum and Managing Director of Pahana Media, delivered the welcome address. During the sitting, Moulavi MM Sirajuddin Najahi (Secretary, All Ceylon Majalisul Ulama), Ash. ANM Firthous Manbaee (Chairman Serendib Organization), Nazar Kamil (Colombo and Gampaha District Director, All Ceylon YMMA), Ash. MMM Mufti, (Department of Muslim Religion and Cultural Affairs), Shiraz Nurdeen AAL (Chairman, Colombo District Masjid Federation) MTM Rizvi (Secretary, Sri Lanka Muslim Council), Ash. Rifah Hassan (All Ceylon Jammiyatul Ulama) gave his views on strengthening the Islamic United Council. Asseyyid Dr.Hassan Maulana Al Qadiri delivered the vote of thanks.
Coordinators for 15 of the 29 organizations affiliated to the Islamic United Council were appointed on the day.

Ash.Mufti Mustafa Raza, Moulavi MNM Ijlan and on Maulavi Abdul Jabbar adopted to the forum on behalf of the Waqf Board.
It was also decided on that day to induct Al Haj Hussain Muhammad son of Marhoom Alhaj MH Mohamed, former Speaker and founder of Sri Lanka Islamic Center , and Asseyyid Naqeeb Moulana, son of former Western Province Governor Marhoom Seyyid Alavi Maulana, as senior advisors.
Alhaj Hussain Mohamed, President of Sri Lanka Islamic Center, who attended the meeting, requested the Islamic Unity Forum to use the address of Sri Lanka Islamic Center and use this place to hold its Proceedings.
Meeting winded up with dua by Moulavi Ash.ANM Firdous Manbaee, President of Serendib United Organization and Salawath.
