The Department of Motor Traffic has announced fines for individuals who purchase vehicles but fail to register them promptly. According to the Commissioner General, vehicles must be registered within 14 days of purchase, or a daily fine of Rs. 100 will be imposed.
This initiative aligns with the recent Police CCTV camera program in Colombo, aimed at tracing traffic offenders. Fines for violations will be sent to the registered owner’s address, facilitating the identification of unregistered vehicles.
