Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi have agreed to avoid actions that could threaten Middle East stability during Raisi’s visit to Ankara.
The leaders discussed ending what Erdogan referred to as Israel’s “inhumane” attacks on Gaza and emphasized the importance of refraining from steps that could further jeopardize regional security.
They also committed to continuing cooperation against cross-border threats. The main agenda of the meeting was addressing the ongoing conflict in Gaza, with both leaders expressing commitment to the fight against terrorism.
The U.S. and UK recently targeted Houthi positions in Yemen in response to attacks on ships in the Red Sea, escalating tensions in the region.
Raisi accused the U.S. of supporting Israel’s actions and called for Muslim nations to cut ties with the “Zionist regime.” Turkey and Iran, despite their complicated history, discussed regional issues and expressed concerns over the situation in Gaza.
