The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian, is set to undertake an official visit to Sri Lanka from February 19 to 21, 2024, following an invitation extended by Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Sabry.

During his visit, Dr. Amir Abdollahian will engage in a series of diplomatic engagements, including courtesy calls on President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. Official discussions are also scheduled with Minister Ali Sabry at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

This visit reciprocates the bilateral discussions held in August 2023 when Foreign Minister Ali Sabry visited Tehran and engaged in talks with Dr. Amir Abdollahian.

Accompanying Dr. Amir Abdollahian will be a delegation comprising senior officials from the office of the President, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Energy, and other relevant ministries of Iran.

The visit underscores the commitment of both countries to furthering cooperation and dialogue on various fronts, enhancing mutual understanding and collaboration in regional and international arenas.
