Sri Lanka-India ETCA Talks Set for March 2024 in New Delhi

The 14th round of talks between Sri Lanka and India on the Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) are set to take place in New Delhi during the initial week of March 2024.

During its session on Monday (19 Dec.), the Cabinet of Ministers considered President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s report on the status of the ECTA and the discussions of the 13th Round.

Nine sub-committees, responsible for areas such as ‘trade in goods’, ‘introduction and general provisions’, ‘services trade’, ‘rules of origin’, ‘customs procedures and trade facilitation’, ‘phytosanitary and sanitary measures’, ‘technical barriers to trade’, ‘trade agreements’, and ‘economic and technological cooperation’, participated in discussions.

Additionally, the sub-committee on conflict resolution and final provisions is slated to convene their discussions at the conclusion of February 2024 in New Delhi.
