Since 1983 we have been trying to unite the Muslim community with Marhum Alavi Maulana. It didn’t work out. Now you are continuing that effort. This effort will take you to jannah as stated by Ibrahim moulavi when the founding members of the Islamic Unity forum, Assayyed Salim Rifai Maulana, Assayyed Dr Hasan Maulana Al Qadiri, Ash. Abdul Mujeeb told Ibrahim Maulavi visited him recently ,the Islamic Unity forum said in a condolence message.

The demise of Maulavi Ibrahim, who worked till the end for unity among Muslim community and social development, is deeply worrying, stated in the condolence message.

Ibrahim Maulavi, who served as a lecturer at the University of Peradeniya, contributed to the society as the pioneer of the first Sinhala translation of the Holy Qur’an, the pioneer of an educational institution for the nurturing of Sinhala medium Ulama, and the pioneer of exemplary educational institutions for women.

He received Al Alim certificate at Gaffooriya and joined the government service as an Arabic teacher.

After completing his higher education in Saudi Arabia, he returned to the country in 1989 and took over the leadership of Sri Lankan Jama’at-e-Islami and remained in charge until 1992.

He was a prominent figure in the All Ceylon Jamiatul Ulama and served the Ulama and he made arrangements for sending Sri Lankan Muslim students to several international universities including Madinah.

He played a major role in the Formation of Jamia Nalimia and was instrumental in drafting the first curriculum of Nalimia.

Maulavi Ibrahim, who undertook many efforts to unify ulama and other intellectuals, and with Masood Alim (rah), Maulavi Riyal (rah) and others, he established the organization Ittihadul Muslimeen for unifying ulama.

Later he strove to form a unity forum in association with various leaders of the Muslim community.

It is the responsibility of the Muslim community to continue his efforts for the unity of the Muslim community, stated in the condolence message issued by the Islamic Unity forum.
