Interfaith Leaders appointed as Coordinators for National Unity and Reconciliation in the Ministry of Justice

Interfaith leaders Dr. Shastrapati Galagama Dhammaransi Nayaka Thero, Shivsri Dr. Ramachandra Kurukkal Babu Sharma, Al-Haj Asseyed Al-Hafil Dr. Hassan Moulana Al-Quadiri, Rev.Father Dr. Nishan Coorey were appointed as Coordinators for National Unity and Reconciliation in the Justice Ministry by Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksa.

Hon.Minister Wijayadasa Rajapaksa handed over  the Appointment  letters to the interfaith leaders at ministry premises yesterday (07).

The appointment letter states that the main goal and duties of this post are to organize and promote interfaith events to represent all races in order to strengthen the national unity and coexistence of the country to promote peace and coexistence among all races.

The interfaith leaders Dr. Shastrapati Galagama Dhammaransi Nayaka Thero, Shivsree Dr. Ramachandra Kurukkal  Babu Sharma, Al-Haj Asseyid Al-Hafil Dr. Hassan Moulana Al-Quadiri, Rev.Father Dr. Nishan Coorey have been carrying out various activities for ethnic unity in Sri Lanka and internationally for more than 20 years.

These interfaith leaders have proven their empirical activities in the past in establishing unity and harmony between races in Sri Lanka and have been acting as forerunners in interfaith federations and role models for better ethnic unity.
