Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa expressed his gratitude to the interfaith leaders saying that they have been working with diligence and exemplary for more than 20-years in carrying out coexistence between ethnicities and religious harmony. Former President appreciated the services of interfaith leaders Ven. Dr. Sastrapati Galagama Dhammaransi Nayaka Thero, Shivshri Dr. Ramachandra kurukkal Babu Sharma, Al-Haj Asseyed Al-Hafiz Dr Hassan Moulana Al-Quadiri, Rev.Father Dr. Nishan Coorey when they met him at his official residence in Wijerama Mawatha after their recent appointment as coordinators for National Unity and Reconciliation of the Ministry of Justice.
This new appointment for the interfaith leaders is a good opportunity to strengthen ethnic and religious harmony and coexistence among the three communities living in Sri Lanka, he added.
The former President expressed his delight and appreciation to the interfaith leaders for their future endeavours in promoting racial and religious harmony.
