Muslim Foundation for Cultural and Development (MFCD) the designated focal point of Sphere standard in Sri Lanka launched the Sinhala version of the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) book on September 25, 2024. The event took place at the Public Library in Colombo.
Lecturer of the University of Kelaniya Sakeef Mohamed presented the Sinhala version of the book to the audience and Hanan Hussain, the chairman of MFCD Sri Lanka delivered introduction.
Many officials from Kolonnawa Divisional Secretariat and the office bearers of many community based organizations of kolonnawa and Kalutara attended the event. Participants were given opportunity to reflect their opinions at the end of the event.
This event was followed by the workshop on “Core Humanitarian Standard”. MFCD Sri Lanka advocates and empowers the “Core Humanitarian Standard” which emphasizes Quality and Accountability in humanitarian responses to the people affected in crisis to ensure their accessibility and dignity. The workshop aims to empower the humanitarian actors who closely working with affected people and communities
The workshop was dynamically conducted by Mr S.N. Shakeef Mohamed – Lecturer in University of Kelaniya and humanitarian activist, Mr Thuwan Juhair – Kolonnawa masjid federation secretary , Ms. Naseera Rizvi – President Suva Shakti Organization , Mr. Hasreem Ismail – CEO MFCD Sri Lanka and Mr Izam Mohamed – Humanitarian activist on 09 Commitments in Core Humanitarian Standard.
