Palestine embassy commemorates one year of Genocide

An event was organized today (7)  at the Embassy of Palestine in Sri Lanka to commemorate the one year of Genocide in Gaza which started on October 7, 2023. A 2-minute silence was observed for the martyred Palestinians and candles were lit at the event, followed by the speech by His Excellency  Hisham Abu Thaha, the Palestinian Ambassador to Sri Lanka.

Islamic and Christian prayers were also offered on behalf of Muslims and Christians affected by the Genocide Palestine. Many Christian religious leaders, muslims and friends of Palestine engaged in this event.

Ash. Arqam Nooramith, General Secretary of All Ceylon Jammiyathul Ulama, Rt.Revd. Dushantha Luxman Rodrigo, Anglican Bishop of Colombo conducted the prayers.

       

A Signatures campaign inaugurated by Bimal Ratnayake, Co-Chairman of Sri Lanka Palestine Solidarity committee and followed by the participants demanding an end to the Genocide of Palestine and its freedom.

Public can fill in the google form to sign the petition and 3 days have been arranged at the embassy for those who come and sign in person, officials of the Embassy informed.
