New Haj committee of the government has been appointed by the Minister of Buddasasana, Religious and cultural affairs. Chartered Accountant Riyaz Mihlar, has been appointed as the new Hajj Committee Chairman.
Reyaz Mihular is the Regional Head for the Middle East and South Asia of KPMG and has served as the Chairman of Sri Lanka Telecom, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and a member of the Board of Directors of several businesses including Byraha and Nestle.
The other members of the Committee are Ash-Sheikh Y.L.M. Nawawi, Secretary to the Ministry of Science and Technology and former Director of the Department of Muslim Religious Affairs and Cultural Affairs, T.K. Asoor, Senior Lawyer and former Chairman of the National Shoora Council and Chairman of the Conference of Sri Lankan Malays, Professor of Tourism Management of Sabaragamuwa Univerity M.S.M. Aslam, Alhaj Fouzul Haq appointed along with M.S.M. Nawaz as current Director of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs.
