The Emir of Madinah Region, Prince Salman bin Sultan, officially launched the “In the Prophet’s Steps” project, a transformative initiative aimed at preserving the legacy of Prophet Muhammad’s migration from Makkah to Madinah. The inauguration ceremony was held near Mount Uhud on Monday, in the presence of Prince Saud bin Mishal, Deputy Emir of Makkah Region, along with prominent scholars and dignitaries.

This ambitious project recreates the 470-kilometer route taken by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during his historic migration. It includes the restoration of 41 significant landmarks and the establishment of five interactive stations, which narrate the pivotal moments of the migration. A key highlight is the newly built Migration Museum, designed to educate visitors on this defining chapter of Islamic history through state-of-the-art exhibits.

Prince Salman reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to preserving Islamic heritage and enriching the experience of visitors to the Two Holy Cities, emphasizing that the “In the Prophet’s Steps” project aligns with the Kingdom’s efforts to serve the Two Holy Mosques and enhance the spiritual and cultural journey of pilgrims and tourists. He highlighted the leadership’s dedication to preserving Islamic history while fostering a deeper connection with the life and teachings of the Prophet, blending spiritual depth with Saudi Arabia’s rich traditions to offer an immersive, globally resonant experience.

Turki Al-Alshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, noted the collaborative efforts of historical and governmental bodies to ensure authenticity and announced that the experience will officially open in November, running for six months and allowing visitors to retrace the Prophet’s journey.

Saudi Arabia continues to take significant strides in preserving and promoting its Islamic and cultural heritage. By rehabilitating key historical sites, the Kingdom is positioning itself as a global hub for spiritual tourism, showcasing its deep historical roots and its dedication to serving Muslims worldwide.

This project, spearheaded under the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is yet another testament to the Kingdom’s efforts to harmonize its rich history with its vision for the future.
