The Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Gaza has strongly condemned the latest Israeli military raids on the Gaza Strip, denouncing the direct bombardment of civilian-populated areas that have resulted in hundreds of Palestinian casualties.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the committee described the attacks as a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement, international law, and UN resolutions. The escalating violence, the statement warned, threatens regional stability and increases the risk of a wider conflict.

The committee called on the international community to take urgent action to pressure Israel into halting its military operations, adhering to international humanitarian law, and ensuring the protection of Palestinian civilians. It further urged the immediate restoration of Gaza’s electricity supply and the full reopening of crossings to allow the flow of humanitarian aid into the war-torn enclave.

Emphasizing the need for a sustainable ceasefire, the committee reiterated its commitment to resuming dialogue and ceasefire negotiations aimed at ending the war and preventing future cycles of violence. It reaffirmed support for a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative, calling for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The committee, established on November 11, 2023, comprises the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Bahrain, Türkiye, Indonesia, Nigeria, Palestine, along with the Secretary General of the League of Arab States and the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The statement underscores the urgency of international intervention as Gaza faces an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
