The Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs successfully hosted its annual Ifthar event at the department premises in Colombo 10. The gathering, held in the spirit of unity and interfaith harmony, was presided over by the Director of the Muslim Religious and Cultural Department, Mr. M.S.M. Nawas.
The event was graced by the presence of Western Province Governor Hanif Yoosuf, Deputy Speaker Dr. Rivi Sally, and Deputy Minister Muneer Mulafer. Also in attendance were Presidents of Mosque Federations, religious leaders, and directors from Buddhist, Christian, and Hindu religious departments, along with former directors of the department and employees from various faiths.
The Ifthar gathering highlighted the importance of mutual respect and coexistence among Sri Lanka’s diverse religious communities. Leaders from different faiths exchanged greetings and emphasized the significance of fostering interfaith understanding.
The event concluded with a communal meal, reinforcing the message of unity and goodwill among all attendees.
