The Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka has issued a statement addressing recent protests held outside its premises in Colombo on April 30 and May 2, suggesting that the demonstrations were orchestrated by external actors with ulterior motives.
Responding to media inquiries, a spokesperson for the High Commission remarked that “it’s not a secret who instigated and sponsored those innocent people” participating in the protests, claiming many of them were unaware of the reasons behind their involvement. The statement criticized the organizers of the protests for allegedly attempting to create social divisions and disrespecting local laws.
When asked if Pakistan would consider staging a counter-protest, the spokesperson firmly denied such intentions. “There is a strong bond of love, respect and understanding between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and between the people of the two countries,” the spokesperson said, emphasizing that Pakistan would not engage in any actions that might disrupt the peaceful lives of Sri Lankans.
Commenting on regional tensions, the High Commission reiterated Pakistan’s position regarding the recent incident in Pahalgam, located in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The spokesperson affirmed that Pakistan has already called for an independent investigation and added that the nation stands ready to respond to any aggressive actions from India.
