Kuwait Airways, the national carrier of Kuwait, has announced it will resume commercial flights to Colombo, Sri Lanka, beginning October 26. The airline will operate four weekly flights, on Sundays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

The decision marks the airline’s return to the route after a suspension that began in September 2021. According to reports from early 2022, the suspension was attributed to a “dollar crisis” and difficulties for local offices in settling dues to the airline in foreign currency, along with concerns about the high cost of landing in Sri Lanka.

In a press statement, the company said the decision to re-launch the route was driven by customer demand, highlighting Colombo as an “important tourist destination” for its passengers. The move is part of the airline’s strategy to expand its network and offer a wider range of global travel options.
