A British national has been honored in Sri Lanka’s Parliament for her exceptional bravery during the tragic bus accident on the Ella–Ravana Ella Road on 5 September 2025.

Ms. Amy Victoria Gibb was formally recognized for her courage and compassion in assisting victims at the scene, where she provided medical aid, comfort, and reassurance amidst the chaos.

Deputy Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe praised her efforts during the ceremony, noting that her actions embodied the spirit of humanity. Sharing his sentiments on Facebook, he wrote: “In the face of chaos and heartbreak, Amy stepped forward without hesitation, offering medical aid, comfort, and hope to those in desperate need. Her selfless actions remind us that humanity knows no borders.”

Parliamentarians and officials highlighted that Amy’s response was a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy in times of crisis. Her heroism, they said, not only saved lives but also symbolized solidarity and compassion that transcend nationality.
