The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) announced that the newly issued Rs. 2,000 currency note will be gradually released into circulation once banks complete the calibration of their cash-handling machines.

“In order to facilitate the smooth acceptance and dispensation of the new note, Licensed Commercial Banks are in the process of calibrating their cash-handling machines,” the CBSL said in a statement.

The commemorative note, issued on August 29 to mark the 75th Anniversary of the CBSL, will be fully integrated into banking operations after the process is concluded.

CBSL emphasized that the note would be “seamlessly accommodated in all banking channels” once calibration is complete.
