H.E. Jassim bin Jaber J.B. Al-Sorour, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Sri Lanka, received Hon. Imtiaz Bakir Marker, former Minister of Media of Sri Lanka, at the Qatari Embassy in Colombo today (September 17, 2025).
During the meeting, Marker conveyed his solidarity with the State of Qatar in the wake of recent treacherous Israeli aggression against the country. He praised Qatar’s steadfast diplomatic efforts and its constructive role in advancing peace and stability in the Middle East and globally.
Qatar has come under unprecedented attack in recent weeks, with Israeli airstrikes targeting infrastructure in Doha and surrounding areas, marking a sharp escalation in tensions. The international community has widely condemned the strikes, which have caused civilian casualties and damage to critical facilities.
The Ambassador thanked the former minister for his expression of support, reaffirming Qatar’s commitment to pursuing diplomatic solutions and strengthening ties with Sri Lanka.
