Saudi Volunteer Program to combat blindness and diseases held in Sammanthurai

His Excellency Ambassador Khalid bin Hamoud Alkahtani visited today 17th September 2025, the free Noor Saudi Arabia Volunteer Program to combat blindness and diseases that cause it, which was implemented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in “Sammanthurai “ eastern province of Sri Lanka during the period from 15th to 21st September 2025.

During an official ceremony held at the government hospital in “Sammanthurai ” on this occasion, His Excellency Ambassador Khalid bin Hamoud Alkahtani, delivered a speech and stated that this noble humanitarian initiative reflects the core values of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which are based on promoting goodwill and providing assistance to those in need around the world, in line with its humanitarian mission.

His Excellency pointed out that under the leadership of the Custodian of the two holy mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud , pays great attention to humanitarian initiatives that contribute to improving the quality of life of individuals , especially in the field of health. The “Saudi Noor” project reflects this commitment by seeking to provide the necessary medical care for eye patients in Sri Lanka.

Also, He expressed his thanks and gratitude to the leadership of the Kingdom, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid Relief Center and the Al- Basar International Foundation, all the authorities, the Director of the Government Hospital in Sammanthurai , and its employees for their efforts to make this program a success.

In a speech delivered by the Director of the “Sammanthurai “ base Hospital, Dr. Pirabashankar, he expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for providing this humanitarian assistance to the Republic of Sri Lanka, which reflects the distinguished relations that have existed between the two countries for a long time. He also praised the efforts of His Excellency Ambassador Khalid bin Hamoud Alkahtani in strengthening the distinguished relations between the two countries to a greater extent in all fields.

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center is planning to implement the next Saudi Noor Volunteer Project to Combat Blindness and related diseases in “Embilipitiya “ Base Hospital during the period from 22nd to 28th September 2025.
