Sri Lanka’s Central Bank Governor, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, has been honoured with an “A Grade” rating by Global Finance magazine at the 2025 World’s Best Central Bank Governors Awards, held in conjunction with the IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington.
The recognition highlights Dr. Weerasinghe’s prudent monetary policies and strategic leadership in steering Sri Lanka’s economy through a period of significant global and domestic challenges. His efforts in stabilizing the financial system and restoring confidence in monetary management have been widely commended.
Each year, Global Finance evaluates central bank governors from across the world based on policy credibility, inflation control, currency stability, and economic growth outcomes.
Dr. Weerasinghe’s “A Grade” distinction places him among the top-performing central bankers globally, reaffirming international confidence in Sri Lanka’s ongoing economic recovery and financial governance.
