The Cabinet of Ministers has given the green light for a national program titled ‘Sri Lankan Day’, aimed at promoting unity and understanding among the country’s diverse communities.
The event, organized by the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, is scheduled to take place on December 12, 13, and 14, 2025, at the Colombo Municipal Council Grounds and Vihara Maha Devi Park, extending into surrounding areas.
According to the Ministry, the program will be divided into four thematic zones with the participation of both public and private sector organizations. It will highlight Sri Lanka’s rich cultural mosaic by featuring exhibitions, performances, and interactive displays representing all ethnicities, religions, and traditions.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore district-based food cultures, discover local industries and crafts, and purchase unique products that showcase the country’s creative and entrepreneurial talent.
Organizers say ‘Sri Lankan Day’ is designed to serve as a vibrant platform for celebrating national identity and strengthening harmony among communities across the island.
