Sri Lanka’s Lahiru Achintha produced a remarkable performance at the Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain, clinching the gold medal in the Boys’ 1500m event on Thursday.
Achintha clocked an impressive time of 3 minutes and 57.42 seconds to take first place and bring glory to Sri Lanka in the middle-distance category.
Meanwhile, in the Girls’ 1500m race, Nethmi Gimhani added to the country’s medal tally by winning bronze, finishing with a time of 4 minutes and 52.32 seconds.
The strong showing by both athletes marks another milestone for Sri Lanka in youth athletics on the Asian stage.
