The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to begin the recruitment process for 8,547 vacancies across various government departments and state institutions.
The move follows a decision made last year to appoint a committee, chaired by the Secretary to the Prime Minister, to assess manpower needs and identify critical shortages within the public service.
Based on the recommendations and requests submitted by this committee, Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena presented a Cabinet paper seeking approval to proceed with the necessary recruitments.
The proposal has now received Cabinet endorsement, paving the way for relevant authorities to initiate hiring to strengthen service delivery in key state sectors.
