Major General (Retired) Nalinda Niyangoda officially assumed duties as the new Chief of National Intelligence today (28) at the Ministry of Defence in Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte.
He received his letter of appointment on Monday (27) from Secretary of Defence, Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Sampath Thuyacontha.
With more than 35 years of service in the Sri Lanka Army, including in the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Major General Niyangoda has held several key command and staff positions throughout his military career. His leadership, operational experience and commitment to national security were highlighted in a statement issued in this regard.
Prior to his retirement last year, he served as the Adjutant General of the Army and also as the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps
