The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today (29) issued a warrant for the arrest of National People’s Power (NPP) Parliamentarian Jagath Manuwarna.
The order was made by Colombo Fort Magistrate Isuru Neththikumara after the MP failed to appear before court for a scheduled hearing.
The Magistrate instructed that the parliamentarian be taken into custody and produced in court.
Counsel representing Manuwarna informed the court that he was unable to attend as he was participating in a national land distribution ceremony. However, following consideration of the submissions, Magistrate Neththikumara proceeded with the arrest warrant.
Further proceedings are expected once the MP is produced before the court.
