The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Sri Lanka, H.E. Wiebe de Boer, paid a courtesy call on Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) at the Ministry of Defence yesterday (17).
The meeting took place in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, underscoring the longstanding and friendly relations between Sri Lanka and Netherlands. Discussions centred on areas of mutual interest, particularly opportunities to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation.
During the talks, the Defence Secretary expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to enhancing ties through continued dialogue and collaboration.
Ambassador de Boer thanked the Defence Secretary for the opportunity to engage in discussions and reiterated the Netherlands’ readiness to expand cooperation with Sri Lanka in areas of shared interest.
The Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Sri Lanka, Mr. Iwan Rutjens, also attended the meeting.
