Dimuthu Samaranayake Appointed Sri Lanka’s Honorary Consul in Adelaide

Yasoja Gunasekera has officially handed over the Commission of Appointment to Dimuthu Samaranayake as the newly appointed Honorary Consul for Sri Lanka in Adelaide, with consular jurisdiction covering South Australia.

The ceremony was held at the Sri Lankan High Commission in Canberra.

According to the High Commission, Samaranayake is a project management professional in the mining industry and has been actively involved in several Sri Lankan community associations in Adelaide.

Congratulating him on the appointment, High Commissioner Gunasekera emphasized the importance of strengthening Sri Lanka’s engagement with South Australia, particularly in advancing trade, investment, and tourism opportunities.

Samaranayake expressed his commitment to providing effective consular services to the nearly 10,000-strong Sri Lankan community in South Australia, in close cooperation with the High Commission in Canberra and the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne.

The appointment is expected to further strengthen ties between Sri Lanka and South Australia while supporting the needs of the Sri Lankan community and promoting bilateral cooperation.
