Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has questioned how a US submarine was able to enter Sri Lanka’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) without being detected.
Speaking in Parliament of Sri Lanka, Premadasa asked whether the country possesses adequate surveillance systems such as surface radars, sonar technology, or satellite monitoring to track movements in its surrounding waters.
He also stated that the attack on the Iranian naval vessel IRIS Dena had resulted in significant casualties and called for clarification on whether international maritime law had been violated.
Premadasa further warned that escalating tensions in the Middle East could drive up fuel, gas, and food prices in Sri Lanka. He urged the government to secure emergency fuel supplies and closely monitor potential environmental risks arising from the incident.
