Former Member of Parliament Sajin Vass Gunawardena has been taken into custody by officials of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption in connection with allegations of illegally acquiring assets worth Rs. 243.8 million.
He was arrested this morning (09) when he arrived at the Bribery Commission to provide a statement regarding the investigation.
According to officials, Gunawardena had reported to the commission to give a statement related to the alleged unlawful accumulation of assets, when he was taken into custody as part of the ongoing probe.
