Parliamentary Committee on High Posts Approves New Ambassadorial Appointments

The Parliamentary Committee on High Posts has approved the proposal to appoint Prof. M. I. Fazeeha Azmi as Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Iran.

The committee also approved the appointment of S. K. Chandrasiri as Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Israel.

In addition, approval has been granted for several other diplomatic appointments:

  • Dharshana M. Perera as High Commissioner to Malaysia

  • D. M. S. P. Dassanayake as Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva

  • Dayani Mendis as Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Austria

  • S. P. W. Pathirana as Ambassador to Romania

  • N. I. D. Paranavitana as Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Ethiopia and the African Union

  • Dhammika Fernando as High Commissioner designate to Kenya

  • Anura Withanage as Ambassador to Lebanon

  • M. Farook M. Fawzer as Sri Lanka’s Representative to Palestine

According to the President’s Media Division, all ambassador-designates met with Anura Kumara Dissanayake before assuming their respective posts.
