The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama strongly condemns any closure or restriction imposed on Masjid al-Aqsa, one of Islam’s holiest sanctuaries!

Masjid al-Aqsa holds immense religious and historical significance: it is the first Qiblah of Muslims, the third holiest mosque after Masjid al-Haram and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, and the site of the blessed journey of Prophet Muhammad during Isra and Mi’raj. It remains a sacred trust for the entire Muslim Ummah.

Masjid al-Aqsa has been a center of worship for centuries, associated with many Prophets including Prophet Ibrahim, Prophet Dawud, Prophet Sulayman, and Prophet Isa (peace be upon them all). It has remained a symbol of faith, resilience, and unity for the Muslim Ummah throughout history.

It is a land described in the Noble Qur’an as “blessed” (الأرض التي باركنا فيها), emphasizing its spiritual and historical significance.

Any action restricting access to this holy site is a violation of fundamental religious freedoms and an affront to its sanctity.

The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama calls upon global leaders, Muslim nations, and the Government of Sri Lanka to take immediate and principled steps to ensure the reopening of Masjid al-Aqsa and to safeguard the rights of worshippers.

Furthermore, the Zionist occupation represents a clear and ongoing injustice, particularly in Palestine. Its record of oppression, displacement, and violations of fundamental human rights is well established and cannot be ignored. We strongly condemn these injustices and call upon all those who support or enable such actions to reflect on their moral and legal responsibilities, and to stand on the side of justice, peace, and human dignity.

We urge all communities, scholars, and institutions to engage in lawful advocacy, raise awareness, and stand firmly for justice, while maintaining dignity, wisdom, and adherence to ethical principles.

We pray that Allah safeguards Masjid al-Aqsa, grants ease to those who strive to worship therein, and unites the Ummah upon truth and justice.

“And whoever honors the symbols of Allah-indeed, it is from the piety of hearts.” (Qur’an 22:32)

May justice prevail, and may the doors of Masjid al-Aqsa be reopened for all worshippers without restriction.
