Marco Rubio is set to visit India in May, with discussions expected to center on trade, security, and regional stability amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

The visit was confirmed by Sergio Gor, who shared details on X following a meeting at the White House with India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Rubio. According to Gor, the talks highlighted key aspects of the bilateral relationship, including trade, critical minerals, defense cooperation, and the Quad alliance.

Rubio is expected to further explore these issues during his upcoming visit, particularly as both nations aim to mitigate the economic and strategic impact of the ongoing US-Israel-Iran conflict.

The Quadrilateral Security Dialogue—which includes the US, India, Japan, and Australia—remains a central focus. The group’s goal of ensuring a “free and open Indo-Pacific” has gained renewed urgency as instability in the Middle East continues to disrupt global trade routes.

Misri’s recent visit to Washington on April 8 coincided with the announcement of a ceasefire in the region. During the trip, he also held talks with Allison Hooker, where both sides reviewed bilateral priorities and exchanged views on the latest developments in the Middle East.
