Special attention will be given to energy production: Saudi Foreign Minister assures President

President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has called on Saudi Arabia to make direct investments in a number of sectors, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan told Saudi Arabia.

The President made this observation during a meeting with the visiting Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia at the Presidential Secretariat.

Meanwhile, the President pointed out that he expects foreign investment in agriculture, renewable energy production, technology-based development, and the port city of Colombo.

In addition, the impact of the Kovit-19 epidemic on the Sri Lankan economy was explained to Saudi Prince Al Saud.

At the same time, the President pointed to the impact of low cash flow, the decline of tourism, the impact of hydropower generation on drought, and the increase in demand for fuel.

The Saudi Foreign Minister said that his country was paying special attention to renewable energy production and was ready to assist Sri Lanka in this field.

The President and the Saudi Foreign Minister also discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations in a number of areas.

Meanwhile, Saudi Ambassador to Sri Lanka Abdul Nasser bin Hussein Al-Hardi, Director General of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdulrahman Arkan Altawood, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prof. GL Peiris. Peiris, Secretary to the President Gamini Senarath and Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs Admiral Professor Jayanath Colombage were also present.
