A one-day event was held on March 19th at the Wilpattu Gate Main Hall on the Puttalam-Mannar Road under the theme ‘Social Media and Media Use’.
The event was organized by the National Peace Council and sponsored by MISEREOR / CAFOD.
Haritha Dahanayake, a social media instructor and a leading figure in Transparency International, was the main resource person for the event, and Ms. Musnia moderated the event.
The event was also attended by the members of the Puttalam District Peace Council as well as the members of the district sub-branches.
What is the use of social media? was featured in this event as a useful activity to guide them concerning how to understand its implications.
The next step in this workshop was to launch a creative workshop on how social media can contribute to resolving conflicts between communities.
Notably, the interfaith leaders Puthiyagama Ratana Thera, Arud Sister Ratna Malar, and Ashsheikh Abdul Mujeeb spoke on the event.
