Medical equipment from India, Indonesia to Sri Lanka!

Health Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana said that 101 types of medicines and surgical equipment donated by the Government of India will arrive in Sri Lanka next Wednesday.

At the same time, he said, medicines and surgical equipment would arrive in Sri Lanka on a carrier ship owned by the Indian Navy.

Meanwhile, he said he would receive essential medicines worth 340 million rupees from the Indonesian government within a week as a donation to Sri Lanka.

The Minister also said that he expects more donations from abroad.

Channa Jayasumana said that a special program has been launched to address the drug shortage and that Sri Lankan embassies abroad are assisting in this endeavor.
