“Petrol will not be available for the next two days, but the issue will be resolved over the weekend”, said Power and Energy Minister Kanjana Wijesekera.
The minister made the remarks during the second day of parliamentary session today (May 18).
Fighting for fuel has intensified in many parts of the country, especially in Colombo, as the country’s petrol supply has almost been cut off and fuel stations have dried up at the same time.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe in his address to the people of the country revealed that there is enough petrol in the country for only one day.
Meanwhile, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation today (May 18) urged the public not to stand in line except for essential needs as petrol supply is limited.
The corporation has indicated that regular distribution will be tomorrow (May 19) and diesel will be available at fuel stations.
