Dr. Shafi Sihabdeen of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital has decided to donate his salary arrears for the purchase of essential medicines for Sri Lanka.
Last week, the Ministry of Health agreed to settle the overdue wages of Dr. Shafi Sihabdeen before the 10th of July 2022.
The Ministry has issued a cheque of over Rs. 2.67 million as payment of arrears which is being donated by Dr. Shafi to mitigate the medicine shortage in the country.
Meanwhile, Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has praised Dr. Shafi’s decision yesterday.
She mentioned this while she was retweeted to Kanchana Wijesekara’s twitter message.
