The 145th birth anniversary of the national poet, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal is being celebrated across the country with national fervor on Wednesday(November 09).

The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

Known as Poet of East, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal was born in Sialkot on November 9, 1877.

He awakened the Muslims of the Subcontinent through his universal poetry and political acumen by presenting the idea of Pakistan’s creation through his historic address at Allahabad in 1930.

Allama Iqbal’s address gave a clear direction and separate identity to Muslims of the Sub-Continent to achieve Pakistan.

Sir Allama Muhammad Iqbal (1877 – 1938) was a poet, philosopher, lawyer, theorist, and politician from Punjab, British India, whose poetry in Urdu and Persian is considered among the greatest of the modern era.

Allama Iqbal has been referred to as the “Poet of the East” by academics, institutions, and the media. However, Iqbal is not only a poet of the East but is a universal poet. Therefore, Iqbal is not restricted to any specific segment of the world community, but he is for all humanity.

MUHAMMAD IQBAL’S POEM ABOUT THE BUDDHA

Barring some exceptions, it is unfortunate that most people in Nepal and India, where Sakyamuni Buddha was born and got enlightened respectively, have forgotten about the Buddha and his teachings. They have forgotten that Buddha Dharma is an integral part of their spiritual heritage. It has contributed a lot to the spiritual makeup in general of this sub-continent.
