Today, the Colombo Magistrate’s Court dismissed a private case brought against Ajith Nivard Cabraal, a former governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
Regarding the alleged theft of public money, Cabraal had received a private complaint.
After considering the preliminary objection submitted by Cabraal’s attorney, the judge rejected the private complaint.
In rendering its decision, the court stated that it was rejecting the case because the complainant had not presented enough proof against the accused.
Rajith Keerthi Thennakoon, a former governor of the Southern and Central Provinces, submitted the private complaint against Ajith Nivard Cabraal, alleging that he misused public funds while serving as the governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka from 2006 to 2015.
