248 Sri Lankans who went “lost” in 2019 while traveling to New Zealand have caused concern.
According to NewsHub, a fishing vessel and its 248 Sri Lankan passengers have never been heard from again, according to a New Zealand Government log of asylum seekers’ attempts to reach New Zealand.
On January 12, 2019, “a 90-foot-long fishing trawler-turned-sailboat with 248 Tamil migrants aiming to make it to Australia or NZ left Maliankara near Munambam, India. Since then, no one has heard of the boat or the passengers.
